JAL’s domestic A350-900XWB

In 2013, JAL signed an agreement to purchase 18 Airbus A350-900 aircraft
The A350 boasts one window per seat, fitted with auto-mechanical window shades
The winglets are dipped in JAL’s signature red, with the colour diffusing gently into the white of the wing. This blending of colour is intended to signify an infusion of tradition into the modern day
JAL’s is the first and only A350 to feature dark sidewalls. The dark colour brings a more intimate feeling to the cabin, contrasted with a pure white ceiling and overhead bins that reflect light into the space
The seat geometry of the Jamco first-class seats has been redefined to deliver improvements in passenger comfort
Translucent seat dividers in first class enhance both privacy and visual appeal
The grain and stitching of the E-Leather wrapping over the top of the seat shell creates a distinctive signature
The first class cabin features an origami-inspired pleated bulkhead effect
Passengers are met with a JAL red wall with a gold Tsurumaru logo as they enter the aircraft
Premium economy gives another option to JAL’s domestic flyers
The width of the Recaro seat in premium economy is emphasised by splitting the seat covers into two distinct colour blocks of burgundy and inky blue-black. Further visual interest is created through the combination of real leather and fabric used for the seat
The design language of premium economy is intended to flow into business class, with distinctive geometric shapes applied to the end bay and through the application of a shared colour palette
The red of the drinks surface in premium economy echoes the bold reds applied to the cabin bulkheads
The colours and textures selected for the bathrooms contrast with the pure white of the sink, the pale oak grain pattern on the vanity unit and the subtle lighting on the stone-like floor, creating a serene experience
As economy passengers turn to sit down, the initial monochromatic tones of the cabin change to crisp white, with a flash of red on the seatback literature pocket
The promise of a window for each passenger is carried into the economy cabin

Colour blocks are also used in the economy class seat covers
