ACJC develops A380 commercial first class suite

July 20, 2016 – Some first class cabins have become so spacious and luxurious that they rival the passenger experience enjoyed by those in VIP/VVIP aircraft. It therefore makes sense that the Airbus Corporate Jet Centre (ACJC), a provider of customized interiors for VIP customers, is entering the commercial airline cabin market. According to ACJC, its first offer is a full-height first class mini-suite for the A380 (though the company also released images of another suite design in April), which it claims goes beyond current commercial aviation standards.

The suite was designed by ACJC’s in-house Creative Design Studio, and a VIP version has already been fitted to an ACJ319. Each 2.5 sq.m. suite features a large seat that can be converted into a 33in by 79in fully flat bed. This private space has been outfitted with several storage areas, including a redesigned overhead stowage bin, plus a versatile folding table that is equally well suited for dinner or work, and a 32in high-definition (HD) IFE display.

According to ACJC, there were many technical challenges to overcome in the design, especially in ensuring it met pressure and temperature, air-flow and lighting regulations, while still providing a secure and comfortable area.

“Our contact with airline companies showed us that this kind of product could be adapted to airlines, matching their branding, culture and operations”, stated Sylvain Mariat, head of the Creative Design Studio, referring to the suite.

“Through this approach, ACJC wishes to capitalize on its avant-garde process in the VIP market to offer to airlines’ demanding passengers state-of-the-art technologies and innovations, while satisfying specific regulations and restrictions”, added Joël Frugier, ACJC general manager.
