The Hawk model was Mirus's first foray into the aircraft seating market

Mirus Aircraft Seating has proved an interesting company to follow since it began operations in 2015. Mirus may only have announced one customer since it launched with the Hawk economy class seat, but it has proved to be a strong one, in the form of AirAsia X. However, the company has now announced a second customer: TUI Group Airlines in the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands, which is undertaking a multi-million pound upgrade of its Boeing 767 fleet.

“Mirus is happy to reveal the first of our new customers to be TUI,” read a company statement, which went on: “TUI Group is the world’s largest leisure, travel and tourism company. This project will see Hawk seats retrofitted to a number of airplanes operated by the TUI Group Airlines in the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands. With deliveries starting 2019, we are excited to see Hawk seats flying with such a well-known European business.”

According to Mirus, the TUI versions of the Hawk seating platform are highly optioned, tailored to TUI’s exact specifications and optimized for flights of up to 12 hours.

Previous headlines created by Mirus include plans to establish a South East Asian subsidiary, setting up offices in the Americas, and tie-ups with IFPL and digEcor for in-seat power systems.

Read more about the plans that Mirus CEO, Phil Hall has for the future HERE. SPOILER ALERT: He is looking at moving into more aircraft seating sectors.

In other Mirus news, in April the company intends to reveal a new seating platform at Aircraft Interiors Expo 2019 in Hamburg. More details will be shared in the March 2019 issue of Aircraft Interiors International.
